KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Authorities in Malaysia are closely monitoring their government website after a threat was announced.
Anonymous, a group of hackers who were considered activist posted a video explaining the reason why they are to launch a hacking attack to the country’s official website www.Malaysia.gov .
According to Anonymous, “We fear that if you make further decisions to take away human freedom, we are obligated to act fast and have no mercy.”
This is after Malaysian government had issued a policy regarding the internet regulation or censorship to internet service provider for 10 websites which shares files and video. Malaysian government had come up with this action in order to give punishment to those violators of vital concerns in internet such as copyright laws especially to minimize downloads of pirated materials.
The hackers stressed in their video that internet censorship is against the human right.
To protect their system and their site, Malaysia had informed and gave instructions to parties concerned including technology experts to (–foul word(s) removed–)ure protection from possible hacking incident.
Malaysian government is taking the threat as an alert, for they know that anytime, the attack will be very possible. Especially that recently, hacking incident also happened in a site in Turkey as an expression of disapproval still on the issue of internet censorship.
CyberSecurity Malaysia Agency said that they believe the threat is real.
Malaysian Government had been implementing close monitoring to media operation, in fact there is an established censorship law but it doesn’t mean that they totally lost their freedom to express since websites are still available.
If intrusion would take place in the said site, it would be an addition to the list of the sites being hacked by group of intelligent people who used technology to express their views and stands through hacking.
