Junrey Balawing is now the world's shortest man.

The shortest man on earth is a Filipino! He is Junrey Balawing whose height measures 23.6 inches beating Khagendra Thapa Magar from Nepal who is 26.4 inches tall.

Balawing is set to celebrate his 18th birthday on June 12 which happens to be the Philippine Independence Day.

A municipal health official named Lolit Homay of Sindangan Health Center situated in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, Philippines was able to confirm Balawing’s height on Saturday. Balawing was on his lying down position when the heath officer measured his actual height from head to foot. As a result, it was declared that Junrey Balawing has a height of about 61 centimeters otherwise declared to be man at around 24 inches tall.

Allan Selda being the municipal administrator of Zamboanga del Norte province says that a birthday celebration is set to be given to Balawing on Sunday to call for celebration. It will be expected that Balawing will be able to blow a cake and hear a significant announcement from Guinness when he turns 18 tomorrow. Well of course, the double celebration will happen with birthday balloons from the local government.

The Guinness World Records will send their representative to the province so as to give an official announcement on Sunday that Junrey Balawing is now the world’s shortest man.

After a thorough measurement made by a health official, a photographer employed by the Guinness World Records takes the actual photo of Junrey Balawing to prove that he deserves the title for being the shortest man alive.

Indeed, this has been another reason to call for celebration aside from the Philippine Independence Day.
