Philippine Team Smart Gilas Pilipinas continued its winning streak after they defeated the Iraqis lead by its former Gilas team-mate CJ Giles with a score of 74-64. Coach Rajko Toroman was not so impressed with the offensive performance of the Philippine team but he was satisfied with the defense shown by the Filipinos.

With the win, the Philippines now share  the  lead the Group in A in team standing with 3-0 slate together with equally unbeaten ASU of Jordan which they will be facing this coming Wednesday. According to their Serbian coach, the championship will begin on Wednesday when they face Jordan. A win against Jordan will put them in advantage for they will be facing the number 4 contender from the other group.

A triple double performance from skipper Chris Tiu leads the Smart Gilas to lead the team on its third straight win in the FIBA Asia Champions Cup. Tiu had scored with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 9 (–foul word(s) removed–)ists although shot 1 out of 5 in the three point range.

Marcus Douthit had proven he was worthy of his naturalization by giving the much needed points for the Smart Gilas team. Douthit scored with 15 points and added 14 rebounds. Mark Barroca on the other hand scored with 12 points and eight (–foul word(s) removed–)sists for the Group A leader Philippine Team.

Top scored for the opponent Dohuk of Iraq was the former Gilas member CJ Giles who was so impressed with the improvement of Smart Gilas performance. He scored with a formidable performance, 20 points with 23 rebounds.
