Philippine’s premiere news organization GMA News Online had been hacked by a pervert hacker identified himself as “D4RKB1T” on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at around 1 am. The hacker had previously reported the security flaws he/she had found on the website of GMA and it’s official social networking account in Twitter and Facebook.
According to an article first published by Techpinas.com, they stated that they had already contacted the hacker nicknamed “Darkbit” and gave his side of the story regarding his intentions of hacking the website of GMA News.
In an e-mail sent to Techpinas.com, the hacker was quoted as “I found these [security] flaws 2 months ago. Emailed the admin countless times – no response. I thought – I wasn’t being taken seriously. So, made an statement to them. I actually even did it at midnight to make less people be h(–foul word(s) removed–)led, if it was in the morning alot of people would be mad because most are reading news(like me).” said Darkbit.
The news of the hacking incident had been a hot topic among netizens for the past few hours. GMA News Online had confirmed the incident and made clear that they were in control of the situation and the operation of the website and their social media sites were backed to normal.

The hacker when asked about the messages that was posted on twitter account of GMA News Online he replied as “I leaked the username and p(–foul word(s) removed–)word of the Twitter account of GMANews. I D4rkB1t did not twit those malicious stuff!” the hacker clarifies.
With the recent developments in hacking, even prominent companies were not exempted from these kind of attacked. Darkbit had a good purpose of exposing the flaws but still the damaged had been done. He can be considered as one of the few gray hut hackers, although the p(–foul word(s) removed–)words have been leaked but for his ability I know as a blogger he can pinpoint those persons involved.
