Harold Camping admitted he miscalculated the date of Apocalypse

Harold Camping, the evangelical broadcaster who predicted the judgment day would be on May 21, 2011, admitted last Sunday that he miscalculated.

New statement has been released by Mr. Camping saying that the exact date of Apocalypse would be on October 21.

Mr. Camping said it had “dawned” on him that God would spare humanity “hell on Earth for five months” before the apocalypse happen.

“I felt terrible” this was the word coming from Mr. Camping apologizing to the public after his prediction failed to materialize especially to those who spent their life savings in the belief that the judgment day would come.

According to the first prediction of Mr. Camping he said that judgment day will happen on 21 May, and those who are true believers would be taken up to the heaven while others who left behind will experience a giant earthquake that would bring destruction.

His independent ministry, Family Radio International, spent millions of dollars on broadcasts, billboards and campaign vehicles to publicise the prediction.

There are some who believed in the prediction of Mr. Camping and donated their life saving or gave it away as the day of the judgment approached.

A lot of critics and disappointment were received by Mr. Camping when the said Day of Judgment came but nothing happened.

One of the people who believed in the Prediction was the retired TV producer in New York State, Jeff Hopkins; he showed his support to Mr. Camping by spending some of his saving customizing his car to advertise the prediction.

Hopkins said in his interview that a lot of people mocked, scoffed and cursed him for believing in the prediction, “It’s like getting slapped in the face.” Hopkins said.
