116 People were already confirmed dead by the officials in the US state of Missouri after a devastating Tornado hits the town of Joplin last Sunday destroying all the establishments and buildings in the town.

The search and rescue mission in the place is still on going despite the thunderstorm carrying hail and high winds was hindering the team, hoping that there will be more survivors to be rescued.

One of the officials in the town of Joplin, Mark Rohr happily confirmed that they have rescued seven people.

In one of the local media newspaper it was reported that 1,150 people are now being treated due to some injuries caused by the Tornado.

Power and telephone service in the town of Joplin remains largely cut off.

According to Joplin fire chief Mitch Randles, he said that about 50,000 people have been affected by the disaster and 2,000 buildings were damaged in the town.

The National Guard troops has already been activated after the Governor of Missouri, Jay Nixon declared a state of emergency and warned its people to be cautious because more storms are on the way.

Three Cities in Midwestern state have also been badly affected by the disaster and at least one person died in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

While President Barack Obaman is on his six day trip in Europe, White house released a statement yesterday that the president is kept updated regarding the disaster. Federal Emergency Management Agency administrator Craig Fugate was also sent in Missouri to help coordinate in the rescue mission.

The tornado struck less than a month after a tornado outbreak left 354 dead across seven US states.
