Howard Stringer, Sony chief executive fired back at his critics and insisted the he did act quickly enough regarding the security breach of its PlayStation network by informing the users about it.

According to him, he explained that 43% of firms “notify victims within a month” and there are others which do not report the security breaches.

Mr. Stringer said that they did their best and quoted “We reported in a week. You are telling me my week wasn’t fast enough?”

Last month, a m(–foul word(s) removed–)ive cyber attack has compromised account information of more than 100 million customers of Sony.

Due to the security breach that happened, Sony which is considered one of the Japanese electronic giant forced to shut down their PlayStation Network last April 20.

Many analyst questioned Sony for not being quick enough in informing its customers about the m(–foul word(s) removed–)ive attack.

In the statement given by Mr. Stringer he explained that this incident was an unprecedented situation.

Some of the analyst said that this attacked against Sony is considered the biggest in internet history.

Two weeks ago, senior executive of Sony bowed to apologize to the company’s customers but base on Mr. Stringers remarks it seems to change its tune.

As of now, there is no exact amount into how much the breach might cost the company, according to Sony they are still on the process of (–foul word(s) removed–)sing it.

Mr. Stringer said that there is a charge for system being down and a charge for identity theft insurance.

Sony will report its full year results on 26 May.
