Man Commits Suicide by Jumping from Dubai’s Tallest Building in the World

An Asian man committed suicide on Tuesday at around 9 a.m. by jumping from the tallest skyscraper of the world situated in Dubai.

Police officers said that the man, who still remains to be unidentified, jumped from the 147th floor of the tallest building known as Burj Khalifa which stands to be 2,717ft high.

While waiting for the final report, Emaar Properties, which is identified to be the owner of the building, made a confirmation that the incident happened on a Tuesday morning citing that the suicide was done by a male person.

He died after landing on the deck of the building’s 108th floor. Reporters said that the unidentified male was in his mid-thirties.

Police authorities in Dubai immediately responded to the said incident after receiving a call concerning a suicide at Burj Khalifa.

It had been the first known suicide case from a landmark that consists of 160 storeys. The owner of Burj Khalifa said that it was only in January 2010 that N(–foul word(s) removed–)er al-Neyadi, an Emirati, was able to jump from the said building with the purpose of setting a sky diving record.

Websites of the Gulf News as well as the 7 Days newspapers published articles suggesting that the man jumped to death following a dispute towards his employer.

Whereas, the Dubai policemen told the National media that the employer denied the man’s request to grant him a holiday.

Burj Khalifa was designed by architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill that is based in Chicago. According to the developers, it stands to be the world’s tallest structure.

When the event occurred, Burj Khalifa temporarily closed during the day as reports stated that the structure will once more be opened on the evening of Tuesday.
