Viewing of works of Leonardo da Vinci in London National Gallery will be limit to number of visitors to prevent the large crowds that want to see the famous arts and for viewers to appreciate and enjoy the viewing experience.
According to London’s National Gallery, admission will be fixed at 180 every half hour which is less than 50 than the gallery’s legally allowed to let in.
Nicholas Penny, gallery director said that they looked hard at the problems caused by very popular exhibitions and after they have studied it thoroughly they have decide to take such action.
They also informed the public that advanced booking can be made and it will open on Tuesday. Gallery officials said that they are already expecting large number of viewers of Leonardo’s work, so they advised some to book in advance.
The gallery predicted that longer opening hours and the decision to open the exhibition on January 1 2012 will add 20% to normal capacity of viewers.
In gallery’s statement it was quoted “The message from the National Gallery is to book early… and to come prepared”.
Gallery added that Leonardo Da Vinci: Painter at the Court of Milan will bring together “the largest ever number of Leonardo’s rare surviving paintings”.
The exhibition in the gallery which showcases the works of Leonardo including those that were never shown in the UK before will start from November 9, 2011 until February 5, 2012.
There will be more than 60 paintings and drawings of Leonardo who will be exhibit in the gallery including his famous masterpiece The Lady with an Ermine, the Belle Ferronniere and Virgin of the Rocks.
The gallery will also exhibit a full-scale copy of his famous Last Supper, on loan from the Royal Academy.
