Cebu Dancing Inmates from the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center will be showcased in a Travel Documentary in the United Kingdom. The director of the program Camilla Andersen who visited Cebu City was quoted as saying in an interview that the dancing inmate where the most incredible things she had seen”.
The show’s director together with the crew of “It’s A Woman’s World” had visited Cebu, she furthered adds in an interview that the unique rehabilitation program of the CPDRC would help improve the morale of the prisoners.
The CPDRC inmates had gained a worldwide celebrity status when the video of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” was posted on YouTube and garnered more than 15 million views on the year 2007. Byron F. Garcia the uploader of the video who happens to be the program director and man behind the idea of incorporating a dance moves in the daily exercise routine of the prisoners and encourage them to participate had never thought that they would gained worldwide attention.
During the visit of the crew of “It’s a Woman’s World” the CPDRC inmates had performed “Hot, hot, hot,” “They Don’t Care About Us,” and “Just the Way You Are”. The documentary will be shown on October 2011. It will be aired in 120 countries.
