Many critics were curious about the royal wedding of the Britain’s Prince William to Kate Middleton. The said wedding of the century triggered commotions among those people following the event. But some of them may have something good to expect to the global effect.

Leslie Stokes, Chair of the British Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines said to the ANC’s “Headstart” that there is a potential economic effect to Britain’s struggling economy.

Since 5-years, the wedding of the century would be the biggest boost to the British economy regardless of the cost of the wedding.

According to Stokes there was a phenomenal increase to the income of tourism from different sectors like hotel bills, air flights, hospitality and souvenirs that showcase for British business overseas.

However, she said that expenses for the event should be kept in check to avoid overspending, Stokes said.

Stokes said that the wedding of the century is a grand occasion that people were not thinking how much to spend. She also said that there would be no throwing of money since people are suffering from money problems.

One of the reasons for the pre-wedding excitement is the potential expectation that this wedding will become a true fairy tale wedding, unlike the union of his parents, Prince Charles and Lady Diana, Stokes said.

What happened to Charles and Diana is the revitalization of the 21st century in the monarchy.

But the wedding of the century would be happened this year with (Kate) who has the same age as William, who were at the same school at St. Andrews. It’s clearly a love match,” Stokes said.

According to Stokes, public interest in the royal wedding maybe also rooted in the possibility that the heir to the throne may skip generations, and ‘Prince William’ may be more than a ‘King-in-waiting’.

“There is a big chance that it would jump generations, that’s why this marriage has a lot interest. ‘Prince William’ would be the heir of the throne after Charles and it may jump generations,” Stokes said.
