With the continuing search and rescue operations at the Compostella Valley where many residents were considered missing after the landslide, three more bodies were recovered in the area.
The first body was recovered about 8:55 in the morning Monday April 25. The second was found separately about 10:40 AM and the third one was recovered about 11:00 AM both still on the same day. The information stated was given by a representative of the Philippine National Red Cross Joseph Randy Loi.
The newly found bodies were still unidentified and said to be in their decomposition condition in an advanced state.
The number of declared dead increases to eight (8) which already include the 3 newly recovered dead bodies while the 14 others still remain missing. In action, the search and retrieval operations are still ongoing in the ladslide-hit area.
The said numbers are not yet cleared but still to be verified by the higher officials.
The possibility of the survival of the other missing victims are said to be without (–foul word(s) removed–)urance according to Mayor Celso Sarenas of Pantukan town. He also added that the operations rescuers are facing became more dangerous so it will be temporarily stopped. He said that their will be an indefinite suspension in the operations.
He also opened about what the geologists have found out in the same area which could possibly result to a potential landslide again. The cause was said to be a crack which is moving at a ratio of “3 inches every 24 hours.”
The information was the main reason why the residents still living in the area is indeed to be forced for relocation.
