2 Foreigners Rescued by Philippine Navy in Palawan

BRP Juan Magluyan (PG 392), Naval Ship to rescue 2 Foreigners in Palawan

Two foreigners were located on board in a yacht in the area of Palawan Province. The yacht was off the town of Sofronio Española in Palawan. The foreigners were found by The Philippine Navy, Naval Forces West. The foreigners were identified as a Singaporean national and the other is an American.

Sunday, the Philippine Navy gave their statements that it was Good Friday last week about early 5:40 in the morning when their yacht was located. The Philippine Navy operatives were on their search and rescue operations for the missing foreigners and fortunately found them.

In the Navy’s official web site, statements has been posted in a news release which said, “The rescued foreign nationals were identified as Ruben Staver, an American, with p(–foul word(s) removed–)port number 1920966843; and Foo Hay Chim, a Singaporean, with p(–foul word(s) removed–)port number S130402313. The yacht, however, was found aground and half submerged off Aracefi Island.”

Thursday evening, it was 11:00 PM when the coast guard dispensed in Palawan received a request for (–foul word(s) removed–)istance which the Philippine Navy immediately responded. A navy ship, BRP Juan Magluyan (PG392) takes the coast to reach the area where the request for rescue came from.

“Fly Ruben Fly” was the said name of the yacht. It was in the bad condition and said to be sinking due to strong winds which cause great waves bumping the yacht. Reports said that it was about 5 nautical miles northeast away from Scott Point of Sofronio Española in Palawan. But the Philippine Navy states that BRP Juan Magluyan ship happened to found the yacht approximately 770 yards east away from Arrecefi Island.

The two foreigners were sent by the Navy’s to the Coast Guard Detachment of Narra in Palawan after they were rescued.
