Filipinos are encouraged to vote for Puerto Princesa Underground River to make it on the list of the New Seven Wonders.

Philippine Vice President Jejomar C. Binay encourages every Filipinos to cast their votes for Puerto Princesa Underground River as a spot for World’s New Seven Wonders of Nature.

The Philippines is currently heading its way to become more globally competitive through Palawan’s Underground River. It becomes the country’s pride as it closely competes with other international spots like the Amazon Rainforest, the Grand Canyon and the Dead Sea.

Binay says that every concerned Filipino must be encouraged to vote for it. In this way, Filipinos will be able to show support for the administration of President Aquino who is also making an effort to promote the beautiful country.

Worldwide voters have put the Puerto Princesa Underground River to be among the 28 finalists vying to be considered under the list of New Seven Wonders of Nature.

Other finalists include the Great Barrier Reef, the Galapagos Islands, Mount Kilimanjaro, Jeju Island, and Mount Vesuvius.

The Underground River stands to be at the top half of the finalists on Saturday.

Promoting one of the Philippine treasure is as simply as texting. Voters who are Globe, Smart or Sun subscribers can text “PPUR 15” to 2861.

Voting will be until September 25. The public are permitted to vote for multiple times as long as they want.

It will be on Nov. 11, 2011 that the New Seven Wonders of Nature will officially will be announced. On the other hand, the date of the final announcement coincides with the birthday of Vice Pres. Binay.

As Filipinos are urged to take part of raising the current standing of Puerto Princesa Underground River, Binay says that this is the perfect time to draw attention to the beauty that is possessed by the Philippines. Bringing Palawan’s Underground River to be on top of the list will be a good way to encourage tourists to visit the country.

The campaign for the New Seven Wonders started in the year 2007. Over 440 spots within 220 countries have been nominated through a national qualification. Eventually, it was raised to top 77.

From the 77 spots that were nominated, the New7Wonders Panel of Experts took charge on the selection of the 28 Official Candidates.

On July 21, 2009, the 28 Candidates were officially announced.

The third and final phase of voting for the Official New7Wonders of Nature is ongoing. One billion voters all over the world are expected to promote their candidates.
