A record-breaking in a long kiss for a couple lasted for 46 hours, 24 minutes and 9 seconds that broke the previous Guinness World Record of 32 hours in 2009 by a couple in Germany.
The contest started at 6:00 a.m. Sunday and by Monday afternoon half had already beaten the official Guinness World Record and still continue puckering up together on the corridor in the Oceanside Shopping Mall in Pattaya.
A Bangkok couple won the contest was announced before the dawn Tuesday. Ekkachai and Laksana Tiranarat received a diamond ring worth 50,000 Thai Baht equivalent to (US$1,606), and a cash prize of 100,000 Baht (US$3,213).
In celebration of Valentine’s Day in southern beach resort town Pattaya Thailand where 14 couples joined the “kissathon” contest. People p(–foul word(s) removed–)ing smiled and took snapped pictures with their mobile phones.
The competition was organized by Som(–foul word(s) removed–) Naksuetrong, the manager of Pattaya’s Louis Tussaud’s Waxworks museum.
“We did not expect we would find a pair of couple that could break the Guinness World Record” said Som(–foul word(s) removed–).
“The seven pair of couples did amazingly” he added.
“We want to show to the world that love is powerful and meaningful. Standing and kissing for that long is not easy. They need to support each other and to help each” Som(–foul word(s) removed–) said.
Competition organizer claim the marked of longest recorded smooch in history.
Guinness World Record officials will have to verify the record for the latest milestone to become official.
According to the rules, no sitting or sleeping, the couples’ lips could not part at anytime. The contestants had remained embrace during bathroom. Drinks could only be consumed using the straw while continue kissing. A break is given every 3 hours with a close supervision by the committees.
One participating couple a woman and her boyfriend fainted after half an hour.
Participating couples were mainly Thai and age ranging from 21-51 year old. There was one pair of couple a German man with a Thai woman, and one participating gay couple in the contest.
The couple won the contest held celebration after winning the World’s Longest Continuous Kiss contest and set a new record at 46.24.09 hours in Pattaya Thailand.
