P25-million worth of cocaine was confiscated by the ‘Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency’ (PDEA) as well as custom employee and his lied-in partner were arrested during the buy-bust operation in illegal drug conducted in a hotel located at Quezon City Sunday past midnight.
The buy-bust operations conducted at around 12:30a.m. with the join force of Director Wilkins Villanueva PDEA Metro Manila Regional Office (MMRO) operative unit and the PDEA 4A in one of a hotel in Quezon city. Villanueva refused to identify the said hotel.
Villanueva said, 5 kilograms of cocaine were confiscated during the operation and that is worth approximately P25-million.
Bureau of Customs employee Jessie Abuyong and Maria Lorejas his live-in partner were also arrested, Villanueva said.
The BoC employee Abuyong rank clerk III (–foul word(s) removed–)igned to report in the Terminal 1 of ‘Ninoy Aquino International Airport while Lorejas a losing candidate for mayor in Mahaplang, Leyte but did not won during election.
PDEA undercover agent pretend to be a buyer, negotiate with the suspect to meet up in one of Quezon City hotel to buy cocaine Sunday, said Villanueva.
The PDEA recalled that sometime in Dec. 2009 2-tons of cocaine was dumped off from a ship bound to Hong Kong to the sea-water somewhere in Leyte connecting to the knowledge of PDEA officials that Lorejas who hold the cocaine from her hometown in Leyte.
“We anticipate for someone to (–foul word(s) removed–)ist them get out” I think the suspects still expect that somebody will intervene on their stead, Villanueva said.
For the time being, the suspects stay in the custody of PDEA Quezon City headquarters and expect further investigation on Sunday afternoon. Violation of Sec. 5 Article 2 of Republic Act 9165 will be charged against the suspects for the sale of dangerous illegal drugs.
Villanueva said “our operation to track hard in a small and big time individual who engaged in the illegal drug trade is directive under General Jose Gutierrez, Jr. PDEA Director.”
