Before, it was rumored that MySpace.com is going for sale. Now News Corp. confirms that it was in fact for sale now.

MySpace.com becomes so popular when News Corp. bought it last 2005 for about $580 million. It was among the top social networking sites with millions of members’ worldwide and currently has more than 2 billion members.

From social networking site, MySpace become a media company. May be because their share on social networking traffic has dropped drastically due to Facebook takeover. MySpace, same as Friendster, is very popular before the boom of Facebook.

News Corp. in its statement said that the income of MySpace has dropped compared to last year’s income. Furthermore, MySpace has recorded a $275 million pre-tax charge due to solid revenue from cable and broadcasting.

“Now is the right time”, said in a statement from COO Chase Carey of MySpace. They are expecting to sell it sooner rather than later.

Big company’s like Google is most likely the first company who will be interested to buy MySpace. Another company that would-be buyer is Yahoo and Microsoft. There are lots of potential buyers and whoever owns MySpace will, I think, will change how the social network site will perform its contribution on the World Wide Web.
