Cyclone Yasi was the worst cyclone to hit Australia for generations. With a packing wind of up to 186 mph cyclone yasi could cause substantial damage and probably deaths to the recovering people of Queensland who had just recovering from recent floodings.
Prime Minister Julia Gillard was quoted as saying “This is a cyclone of savagery and intensity”. She further adds that “People are facing some really dreadful hours in front of them.” She made the statement in a nationwide broadcast.

The worst affected areas of Cyclone Yasi was Mission Beach, nearby Tully, and Innisfail. It even reach to hundreds of kilometers away from Cardwell, Cairns, and Townsville.
