Kim Clijsters the 27 year old Belgian tennis star was declared the Champion of the recently concluded Australian Open  Womens Championships held at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia. She defeats Chinese Li Na, the first-ever Chinese to reach the Grand Slam Singles Finals with a score of  3-6, 6-3, 6-3.  Clijsters earned her third major titles since coming back from retirement.

Kim Clijsters was born on June 6, 1983 in Bilzen, Belgium. She stands 174 cm. tall. She turned pro on August 1997 but retired on May 2007. Clijsters staged her comeback on August 2009. She was formerly engaged to the Australian tennis star Lleyton Hewitt but their relationship did not last long. Kim was affectionately called by Australian as “Aussie Kim”.  She is now married to American basketball player Brian Lynch.

Kim Clijsters comeback was a remarkable one in the history of tennis, her momentum have grown tremendously. She last won the 2009 U.S. Open. She had never won a Grand Slam title outside the U.S.. In this year’s Australian Open tournament she even considered herself playing with a home court advantage for thousands of Australian supporters have came out to support her bid by beating China’s Li Na.

Miss Clijsters was quoted as saying in a post game interview “People have been so supportive and I really appreciate it and I feel like I haven’t been able to give something back.” With the dominance she had shown during the game and the crowd that was so entertain with the way she played tennis at her best, Kim have truly given something back not only to the Australians but to all people who loves tennis.

Meanwhile China’s Li Na have not only showed her superb form in tennis but she also captured the audience attention by her sense of humor. After the match she even joked that tennis must be played only in one set for she had won the first set only against Kim Clijsters.
