Iran Air was crashed in a farmland after it’s second attempt to land at the city of Orumiyeh, 700 kilometers northwest of Capital Tehran, afer reporting a technical failure to the control tower.
Air Disaster was one of the reasons why some people are afraid to travel by air and Boeing made a remarkable contribution to minimize these phobia by introducing the Boeing 727 aircraft which was made when people are afraid to travel by air. It was out of production since 1984.
According to Fars News Agency, the pilot had lost contact with the airport before it disappeared to the radar because of bad weather. There are at least 72 people confirmed dead and 33 survived but were injured. Even though the plane was broken into pieces there was no explosion.
Rescue workers were also hindered by darkness and snow. Poor maintenance and updating of the Iran Air fleet proved to be one of the reason why some people are referring to these planes as a flying coffin. The sanctions given to Iran by the U.S. government and the European Union proved to be one of the key factors that Iran Air was unable to buy and update these aircraft.
Air Disaster is one of the problem of Iran Air because their fleet was 30 years older. Iran Air could no longer update their fleet because of the sanctions given. On July 2009 Iran Air was also involved in a tragic accident killing all 168 on board. On February 2003 Iran Air was also involved in a fatal crashed that leave 302 people dead onboard including the elite Revolutionary Guard.
