Blackberry Torch is the third mobile phone produced by Blackberry with a touch screen feature. However, it is the first one with a slide keyboard option. The phone has the latest version of the operating system of RIM (BB OS6) with 512 MB in RAM, 4GB storage memory that is extendable to 32 GB through a microSD. The phone has also a 4GB pre-installed card. The processor is 600 MHz and a VGA video recording. The camera is 5 megapixels with an LED flash. The mobile has a Bluetooth 2.1, a 3G connectivity of 384bps and a WiFi 802.11 b/g/n. The Li-Ion battery has a life of 5.5 hours (1300mAh) for the talk time.
The Torch is certainly of great design innovations but still suffering from many defects compared to the iPhone and Android phones. The screen has 3.2 inches and a resolution of 360 x 480 which is smaller than the iPhone (3.5 inch) or HTC and Samsung Galaxy S with 4-plus inches. The main advantage of any Blackberry is the high responsiveness of the physical QWERTY keyboard. The buttons are flatter and almost flush, whichmade the Blackberry’s responsiveness firm. The Torch is a copy of Storm; the only difference is the slide keyboard.
Even if the screen is smaller to the other super phones, it is bright and suitable to see videos and movies. The Torch has an excellent sound quality. It offers plenty of volume during voice conversations, speakers and any media player. The Blackberry operating system 6 gives the Torch high functionality. You can pull up a lot of applications like Android. You can change the place of icons from one screen to another without any barrier. Even if the Torch and Storm are built-in with the same specifications, the Torch has more customization than any other Blackberry. You will find a lot of application icons on the screen. Nevertheless, they are only pointers and you will have to download the application.
The best advantage of the Torch is its 5 megapixel camera that takes very colorful snapshots and pictures. The ER flash is doing a very good job to give sufficient luminosity in indoor shots compared to other cameras. On the other hand, using VGA video recording is really disappointing because of a smeared pixilation.
The Blackberry Torch has a touch screen interface that is not comparable the other smartphones; the keyboard responsiveness is lower. Even with the advanced BB operation system 6 and the advanced camera, the Torch is still incomparable to the iPhone and Android phones. Yes it is the best Blackberry in market but not the most advanced mobile in market.
