English Premier League Preview

This season the title race for the Barclays Premier League title has been getting twists and turns in every match. Recently the defending champions Chelsea have suffered the greatest loss in form by securing just one victory in their last 8 matches. Similarly, contenders like Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City have also suffered in their forms. Title race dark horses like Spurs have also their ups and downs.

Fixtures played on Tuesday 28th December also turned the title race on its head as Manchester United dropped two points against Birmingham City at St Andrews.  Moreover, with Arsenal winning against Chelsea on Monday night and Manchester City securing three points on the same day means that both Manchester City and Manchester United have 38 points to their tally with Arsenal 3 points behind at 35 points followed by Spurs and Chelsea at 33 and 31 points respectively.

However, Chelsea get a wonderful chance to rediscover their form of old by registering victory against Bolton tonight at Stamford Bridge. It is really surprising to see Chelsea who registered consecutive 5 victories at the start of the season to suffer such a big loss in form in which they have won only one match out of 8. However, it can be said that the controversial sacking of (–foul word(s) removed–)istant manager Ray Wilkinson has not helped the cause and the injuries to key players like John Terry, Frank Lampard, Michael Essien and Didier Dorgba have made the matters worse.

A part from the championship battle, faltering teams like Liverpool will also be battling hard to reach at least champions league places by finishing fourth in the table. They also face Wolves tonight at Anfield. So we can say that all the teams from the bottom to top have their chances to improve their form and rankings because each and every team will be playing a bunch of games in New Year and Christmas period and if they are able to perform better in this period then all the teams can get their fortunes changed but it has to be said that this year’s premier league has been the best and tightest since the beginning of the premier league in 1990.
