Ombudsman confirmed that they will continue the investigation against President Duterte about the complaints filed by Senator Trillanes.
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales said that her office is mandated to investigate a public official facing an administrative or criminal complaint, whether or not he or she has the immunity from suit.
In a recent news report of ABS-CBN news, Morales confirmed that the Office of the Ombudsman has acted on Sen. Antonio Trillanes’ plunder complaint against President Rodrigo Duterte.
The office of Ombudsman will continue to investigate President Duterte for the purpose of determining whether gross or grave has been committed.
Morales clarified that if the investigation turns affirmative, there are possibilities to impeached Duterte from his seat.
“If the investigation turns affirmative, then we will forward our resolution to Congress for possible impeachment [case],” Morales said.
The complaints of plunder, graft and malversations were filed by Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV against incoming President, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
