Maynilad explains why “low water to no water” supply happened.
Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) apologized to its concessionaires who were affected by the wide and sudden “low water pressure to no water supply” that occurred on Saturday and Sunday.
While the water utility has ran out of supply, it was flooded with complaints from the affected consumers, saying they were not given any advisory of the water supply loss which left their tanks empty because they have not banked in.
Maynilad explained that they had to control the water production because of the rise in turbidity level. It means the supply from Ipo Dam has gone discolored as an effect of the Southwest monsoon or habagat.
The company further explained that their La Mesa Treatment Plants 1 and 2 were also affected on Saturday.
Ronaldo Padula, Maynilad’s Water Supply Operations head, said that they are still continuously monitoring and conducting necessary adjustments to be able to normalize the water levels.
“We are continuously monitoring the raw water quality in Ipo Dam and conducting the necessary system adjustments so we can return to normal water production levels at the soonest possible time,” said Padua.
For now, Maynilad cannot confirm when their emergency activity on the said plant will be over and when the supply shall be back to normal. They also advised concessionaires to expect water discoloration.
Here is what Maynilad has to say to its enraged customers:
“Ang water interruption na inyong nararanasan ay dahil sa emergency activity at La Mesa Treatment Plant. Expected time of completion is yet to determined.”
It added, “Maynilad Water Services, Inc. The low water pressure to no water supply and possible water discoloration you may be experiencing is due to the on-going emergency activity at La Mesa Treatment Plant. Expected time of completion is yet to be determined. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you”.
