Computer Shops Evolves From Gaming To Educational

36 registered computer shops located at Toril, Bangkal, Matina, Mintal, Sasa area, Cabantian and the downtown areas of Davao City spearheaded by Beatrice Quimson, ICT deputy executive director made the transition from a traditional gaming center into a Educational Hub as a part of the project called Technology for Economic Development (Tech4ED).

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) together with Alexis Bangayan, president of Internet Cafe Association of Davao (ICAD) project targets call center agent, out of school youth and others who want to work into what could be a useful medium for education particularly in honing the skills of people.

The project provides an easy approach towards learning in terms of the ease in accessing public information and knowledge. This opens the door to some other sector in uplifting the project and encouraging other computer shops around the country to engage in Technology for Economic Development (Tech4ED).

This Idea of adopting computer shop is a positive idea since it is the most effective way in making the partnership happen.  “This is already affordable if we based it in our market today, this is the advantage of the partnership of ICT and ICAD,” Bangayan said.
