Duterte Says ‘Yes’ To Medical ‘Maryjane’, Ingredient In Modern Medicine
The presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte said that his is not opposing the legalization of medical ‘Maryjane’ to used in health purposes but, he is against the use of it in ‘other’ purposes.
In a report by Philstar, Duterte told in the press that ‘Maryjane’ is now used as an ingredient of modern medicine and he is not against it.
“Medical ‘Maryjane’ , yes, because it is really an ingredient of modern medicine now,” Duterte said as quoted in the article.
“There are medicines right now being developed or already in the market that (have) ‘Maryjane’ as a component… used for medical purposes,” he added.
Duterte has been known for his statements about ending crime and illegal drvgs for three to six months but he still warned those who will be using medical ‘Maryjane’ for ‘pleasure’.
The ‘Maryjane’ , which is also known as cannab1s, is one of the banned substance in the Dangerous Drvgs Act in the Philippines.
Even the Department of Health Secretary Janette Garin expressed its support towards the use of ‘Maryjane’ in medical applications to some patients who will really need it.
“The DOH gave its support when it was proposed in Congress, but we just gave certain conditions in which it will be allowed,” DOH Sec. Garin said.
But, she pointed out that it needs strict monitoring upon the application to avoid abuses.
