A supporter of Davao City mayor Rodrigo Duterte recently showed his support by to the presidential candidate by ordering him customized shoes from Nike.

According to the Facebook user named Leno Monteclaro Cupay, he was inspired to gift the Davao mayor with the sneakers because he saw a photo of Duterte walking with a worn-out shoes.

Duterte said that his shoes were torn because people stepped on them during a campaign rally. The mayor was known of wearing normal and simple attires.

In the now viral post of Cupay on May 2, he said that he ordered the customized rubber shoes online from the famous sports apparel brand, Nike, to give “Tatay Digong” a simple gift.

Cupay described the customized shoes to have “Rodrigo and “DU” placed on the left pair while “Duterte” and “30” on the right. He added that the color of the shoes will resemble the Philippine flag, which is the Davao mayor’s color in the presidential race.

The supporter also posted a screenshot of the order and acknowledgement receipt from the apparel store.

According to the description of the shoes, it is sized 9 and would cost the latter with $255 or P10,632 with an added tax of $20.25 or P956 totaling $245.25 or P11,588.

“We’ll get started on it right away and keep you up to date on our progress,” wrote Nike in the acknowledgement receipt.

The post of Cupay now has more than 17,000 shares on Facebook and counting.
