Mayor Duterte & Sen. Cayetano Shifts Strategy in Preparation for 2016 Elections

The tough-talking Mayor Rodrigo Duterte who is considered as one of the most popular candidates for President will shift his strategy in preparation for the 2016 national election. The veteran local government leader issued a directive to his team alongside running mate, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano who runs for Vice President.

According to the 70-year-old Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, they will shift from attending private meetings and events to town hall meetings starting next week. Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano also noted that on Thursday, the Duterte-Cayetano tandem will have their first town hall meetings and a two-day activity including courtesy calls to influential leaders of the society.

Mayor Duterte also stated that his team will not overpromise but they will be testing waters with their new strategy of introducing to the Filipino voters. During the previous days, the Duterte-Cayetano tandem had been going into personal invitations, but right now they will be going straight to the people.

In an interview with the media, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano said that the team had a “simple and effective” message: “Tunay na Pagbabago” which is anchored on three issues: peace and order, economics and respect for law.

Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano also added that the edge that Mayor Duterte has among all the other candidates is “naniniwala ang tao na kayang gawin ito,” he stated.
