“Jurassic World” Became the Fastest Movie to Gross $1 Billion in Box Office

Jurassic World produced by Universal Pictures sets the record as the fastest film to gross $1 billion in box office receipts worldwide, according the latest tally on Monday. The movie featuring “Guardians of the Galaxy” star Chris Pratt alongside Bryce Dallas Howard, the one who portray the role of Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man 3.

According to Universal Pictures, the dinosaur movie “Jurassic World” is expected to hit the $1 billion movie milestone in just 13 days after its first release.

Based upon the previous box office records, the last movie that became the fastest movie to reached the $1 billion box office income was the Universal’s “Furious 7,” the car-filled action film topped $1 billion globally in 17 days after its April release this year.

The movie “Jurassic World” scored the highest-grossing second week at the domestic box office with $106.6 million, over the weekend, topping $400 million in North America in 10 days.

“Jurassic World,” a co-production with Legendary Pictures which rebooted Steven Spielberg’s dormant “Jurassic Park” franchise nearly 15 years after the first trilogy ended, is the latest film for Comcast Corp-owned Universal Pictures to score big at the box office this year.
