LTFRB Approved Taxi Flag Down Fare From P40 to P30

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) approved on Friday the provisional reduction of the flag down fare for taxis nationwide from the existing P40 to P30 due to the prevailing low prices of oil in the world market. The reduction of Taxi Fare will take effect on Monday, March 9, 2015 according to LTFRB’s announcement.

Taxi Roll Back

The LTFRB noted that the taxi flag down roll back will cover all air-conditioned taxi services, including airport taxi service, nationwide.

LTFRB Chairman Winston Ginez clarified that as the rollback is only provisional, taxi meters will not be recalibrated to reflect the new rates. As such, the meters would still show P40 (or P70 for airport taxis) as the initial fare. To apply the new provisional rates, taxi drivers would have to manually deduct P10 from the total fare.

Although the flag down rate of taxis nationwide, there is no provisional reduction of fares for every succeeding three hundred (300) meters.

According to the Board they granted the provisional reduction based on the petition filed by Negros Occidental Representative Manuel M. Iway on December 17, 2014 requesting the LTFRB to reduce the flag down fare for taxis.

Representative Iway is a former member Board Member of LTFRB.
