Ateneo Lady Eagles Defeated UE to Register 13th Straight Victory (UAAP Women’s Volleyball)

Depending champion Ateneo Lady Eagles defeated the UE Lady Warriors for their 13th straight victory in the UAAP women’s Voleyball competition. In the Season 77 of the UAAP Women’s Volleyball, the Lady Eagles is the only undefeated team this season, right now they are on the right track to secure an outright finals berth.

The Lady Eagles got the job done although it proved to be a more difficult match than expected as they won in three hard-fought sets to register their 13th straight victory in the UAAP.
The game ended with the final score at 25-22, 25-17 and 26-24, considered as one of Ateneo’s sweetest victory on Sunday at the San Juan Arena as they come to within one win of sweeping the elimination round and earning a finals berth.

Ateneo took a 2-0 advantage but their level of play dropped in the third set and U took a surprising 6-0 lead when the Lady Eagles skipper Alyssa Valdez was twice blocked and UE setter Laizah Bendong registerd two service aces. The lead ballooned to 12 points, 15-3, as Ateneo committed hitting errors.

The University of the East volleyball team, came to within five points of what would be a stunning upset, 20-9, before the Lady Eagles clawed its way back with a 9-0 blast through the leadership of Alyzza Valdez who already find her offense registering four points in the run, including a drop shot to make it 18-21.

Ateneo made an unforced error making it 19-23 before UE’s Angelica Dacaymat committed back-to-back hitting errors to make it a two-poing game, 21-23 but Ateneo’s Ella De Jesus committed an error allowing UE to reach set point, 24-21.

From that moment it was all Ateneo Lady Eagles dominating the game as they secured a vitory against the University of the East. The Ateneo Lady Eagles is scheduled to face it’s fierciest rival the De La Salle University Lady Spikers this coming February 18, 2015.
