Kapamilya actor and TV host Luis Manzano reacted to rumors that he will play the much coveted role as Captain Barbell, the most popular fictional Filipino superhero. The rumors started during the past few months after ABS-CBN acquired the rights of all the Mars Ravelo comic and will be adapted on TV by the station.
According to the 33-year-old his mother station, ABS-CBN did not offer him the job as Captain Barbell. The actor and host clarified the issue during an interview while attending the launching of his newest endorsement deals with Puregolds Perks Card.
Luis Manzano was quoted as saying “Captain Barbell? Hindi ako, hindi ako,” said Manzano, who is set to return as the host of the ABS-CBN game show “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal.”
The rumors linking Luis Manzano to Captain Barbell when most netizens noted online that he could possibly do the role popularized by his father, Edu Manzano who portrayed the Captain Barbell role in the 1986 movie of the same title.
But when Luis Manzano was asked if he is open to taking the role if given a chance, the TV host noted that “Depende din talaga kasi lahat naman ng ginagawa ngayon ay new version… so depende sa treatment nila ngayon.”
The other actors who is rumored to portray the role of Captain Barbell are actors Xian Lim and Coco Martin, but both of them denied accepting the project.
