Veteran actress and dubbed as country’s “Comedy Queen” Ai-Ai delas Alas shared her reasons why she decided to quit social media and deactivated her account on the image-sharing site Instagram.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News’ Mario Dumaul, the “Tanging Ina” star said that other people are crossing the line and she can no longer accept what they are saying about her.
“Na-realize ko na, modesty aside, in my 25 years in show business, parang ‘yung mga nababasa ko, hindi na angkop sa pangyayari sa buhay ko. ‘Yung iba kasi, parang sobra naman. Hindi ko na kaya tanggapin ‘yung iba. Okay nalang din na wala,” she said.
Ai-Ai delas Alas said that it would be okay if she has no social media accounts or else she might get hurt again. She also thinks that social media is for teens and not appropriate for her age.
“Imbes na masaktan ako. okay na rin na wala nalang akong social media. Okay na ‘yun. Nakiki social media nalang ako sa anak ko. Tutal, feeling ko naman parang mas pangkabataan talaga ang social media.”
Ai-Ai delas Alas also said that social media sites like Instagram, Facebook and Twitter is useful for celebrities to interact with their fans. But it’s her choice not to use those.
Ai-Ai delas Alas made headlines in the past months after her introduced her 21-year-old boyfriend Gerald Sibaya. She also took her Instagram account to post some photos of them together.
