Condominium Policy on “Segregation” Went Viral & Enraged Netizens

A Facebook post of a condominium policy on “Segregation” went viral online and enraged netizens when it was posted and shared by hundreds of people in the world’s leading social network. According to the policy, owners are reminded “to use the service elevator only” for their household employees.

The viral Facebook post was originally posted by a certain FB user Poch Ceballos who also added some captions accompanying the memorandum to all the residents of Icon Residences, located at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

Here’s some part of the Memorandum:

“The administration office has had a number of enquiries from owners in the building on why helpers are using the Passenger Elevators when only Unit Owners / Tenants and their guests are allowed to the Passenger Elevators,”

The uploader also added a caption to the viral photo which reads: “When Filipino maids in Hong Kong get banned from using the ‘regular’ elevators (you know, the ones that ‘regular’ people use), the country throws a hissy fit. Guess what? It’s happening in our own backyard,” Poch posted.

Netizens were engraged with the condominium policy, thinking that the statement made by the Condominium officials as “discriminatory,” “disgusting,” and “horrible.”

The original uploader of the viral photo replied with all the negative comments and reactions, and was so grateful with the support the uploader got from the netizens who liked and shared the information.

Poch Ceballos was quoted as saying “Hi all, thanks for sharing, liking and rallying against segregation based on occupation. I think it’s great that the issue is being pushed to the limelight and being debated. For my part, I have my letter to Katherine written up, ready to give her first thing in the morning. In a nice manner, it explains why this policy is wrong in principle and in practical terms. I also plan to write the homeowners’ board to explain much the same. I’m happy to engage in productive dialogue with them to come to a solution.” the uploader commented.
