Kokoi Baldo Performance Video on The Voice Ph Season 2 Blind Audition (Oct. 26, 2014)

Kokoi Baldo became one of the most popular artist during the pilot episode of The Voice of the Philippines (TheVoicePH) Season 2, held on Sunday, October 2014, after he made all the four coaches of The Voice turned their chairs around and compete for the rare chance of being with their respective teams. The Bacolod City native and performer in Boracay Island became the second 4-chair turner of The Voice Philippines Season 2.

The Bacolod City, Negros Occidental performer did not only made all the coaches of The Voice to turn their chairs for him, he also made them dance along with his very powerful rendition of the song “One Day,” popularized by Matisyahu.

The 35-year-old Kokoi Baldo told the audience before his performance that he is a musician from the famous island of Boracay in the Province of Aklan. Coach Lea Salonga who noted before Kokoi’s performance that she want the singer to describe Boracay to her. Kokoi Baldo responded with the description of Boracay as “Maliit na isla na puno ng tinatawag na ‘sorpresa.,'”

Kokoi Baldo who is known as a reggae singer in Boracay was asked by the judges who he got into reggae, the dreadlocked barefooted performer answered that his mother used to sing the popular Bob Marley song “Three Little Birds,” while doing the laundry, from then on he started to embrace reggae.

Right after the performance of Kokoi Baldo, coach Apl.de.ap was so impressed with his own rendition of the popular song, so he asked Baldo to jam with him, which was later on joined by the rest of “The Voices” coaches.

When the final decision was made, Kokoi Baldo, decided to join Team Sarah of Coach Sarah Geronimo, who was also surprised with the decision of the reggae singer.
