The Reason Why Australian Hospital Declares 200 Dead Patients

The particular hospital is Austin Hospital which is in the most populous city of Melbourne.

The announcement was unintentional, it was a mistake instead. These were just the result of careless change to the death notification template which were saved to the standard discharge template.

Recognizing their mistake Austin Hospital then contacted the all the GP clinics that were been affected. They have given them their apologies. “We apologized unreservedly to affected clinics who, for the most part, were very understanding about the error.”

Because of it, the President of Australian Medical Association’s Victoria state branch who is Tony Bartone said that the mistake was “unacceptable.”

According to him, “IT issues must not undermine patient care or trust in the Victorian healthcare system.”

“It would have been distressing to receive such a fax, especially relating to the unexpected death of children and teenagers.”

However, patient care was not affected said Austin Health who runs the said hospital.

Let’s just be happy because this was just a mistake. A number of 200 dead people in a hospital is indeed too much. Let’s just need to be thankful that it’s just a mistake. In addition, the hospital had already sent their apologies so it’s over already.
