Ateneo Lady Eagles Defeated La Salle in Game 3 Forces Winner Take All Finals

The Ateneo Lady Eagles defeated the depending champion De La Salle Lady Spikers in Game 3 to force a winner-takes-all showdown in the UAAP Season 76 Women’s Volleyball Finals.

The Lady Eagles played in a do-or-die game for the fourth time in women’s volleyball was able to defeat the La Salle Lady Spikers in five sets on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Ateneo’s victory set up a winner-takes-all game this coming Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the same venue. The Lady Eagles bounced back from their Game 2 lost against La Salle.

The team also made history as they ended La Salle’s 30-game winning streak dating back to 2012 after they defeated the Lady Spikers in Game 1 of the UAAP Women’s Volleyball Finals.

The Ateneo Lady Eagles already made headlines after they reached the finals by eliminating Adamson University in the step-ladder semi-finals and overcame a twice-to-beat disadvantage against the second-seeded National University Bulldogs.

The La Salle Lady Spikers defeated Ateneo in Game 2 to move within one game win of a four-peat performance, but Ateneo never surrenders and captured Game 3 of the Finals and they continued their fairy-tale run in the UAAP Women’s Volleyball tournament.
