Meralco Hires Brian Butch as Reinforcement on Comm’s Cup

Meralco is now equipped for the coming conference as the Bolts finally found import that will help them to bounce back in Commissioner’s Cup that set to tip off on March 5.

Following an early exit in the still on-going Philippine Cup, the Bolts decided to tap NBA D-League standout Brian Butch.

The 6’11 Brian Butch, who is set to arrive this week, is a former D-league Impact Player of the Year in 2010 after he averaged 17.7 points, 11.9 rebounds and 1.7 (–foul word(s) removed–)ists playing for Bakersfield Jam.

The 29 year-old big man also won MVP honors in the D-league All-star game in 2010 and became part of All-NBA D-League First Team last year.

Butch, undrafted in 2008 out of Wisconsin, played four three seasons with Jam and Fort Wayne Mad Ants while averaging 14.0 points, 10.3 rebounds and 1.6 (–foul word(s) removed–)ists. He also played in China and in Germany and Greece from 2008-2009.

Meralco is looking to improve a dismal ninth place finish in the season-opening tournament. Bolts have the privilege to get 6’11 import due to the handicapping system of the PBA.
