Newly-appointed coach Thomas Dooley named 34 local-based players on Friday that will be included in the Philippine national men’s football training team.
The list is being comprised by holdovers, former members and new prospects for the Philippine Azkals, who is having a revamp and build-up for the May’s AFC challenge Cup. Most of the players are coming from United Football league.
Pacing the long line of booters are Azkals mainstay Phil and James Younghusband, Ed Sacapano and Chieffy Caligdong. Returning guys Anton del Rosario, Nate Burkey, and Chad Gould and three Air force players are also being called up to join the team.
Fil-foreign booters such as Charles Pettys, Simone Rota, Milan Arends, Kenshiro Daniels, and Curt Dizon and some under-23 standouts are also been invited in the pool.
The 34-man line up is expected to be trimmed down to half before the Azkals face Malaysia in friendly match on March 1.
