Rain or Shine Defeated San Mig in Game 1 of PBA Finals (Highlights Video)

The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters defeated the San Mig Coffee Mixers during the Game 1 of the PBA All Filipino Cup Finals on Friday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum with the final score at 83-80 to gain a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven finals.

Veteran point guard Paul Lee grabbed a crucial defensive rebound for a quick basket to tie the game, he was also instrumental in a quick basket from an inbound in an endgame heroic secured their game One win over the Mixers.

The San Mig Coffee Mixers had the possession with just 22.5 seconds left when the score was tied at 80-80 but the team failed to score a field goal leaving the Rain or Shine salvaging a 1.6 seconds play and ended the game with a big win.

According to the Elasto Painters coach Yeng Guiao, they just got lucky in the end game, he was quoted as saying “We got lucky in the end. We set up a play for Jeff Chan but it was Paul who got open. A big key was the good recognition of Gabe who threw the ball out to Paul,” Guiao stated.

Before the crucial points fired by Paul Lee with his back-to-back four points and his technical free throw in the end, James Yap of San Mig buried back-to-back baskets and seized the lead at 80-78 despite the fact that the Mixers were trailing during the entire game.
