Pope Francis Graces Cover of Rolling Stone Magazine

The head of the Roman Catholic Church Pope Francis appears on the cover of the Rolling Stone magazine on their February 2014 issue as it hits newsstands on Friday, January 31, 2014.

The Rolling Stone magazine is known worldwide as the most popular magazine for politics and popular music. The magazine is published every two weeks, managed by Jann Wenner as chief editor and publisher.

The special issue of Rolling Stones, put the 77-year-old pontiff name alongside the icons of American popular culture. It is also the first time that the staunchly liberal rock-music bible has featured a Roman Catholic Pope on its cover.

The cover headlines of “Rolling Stone” February 2014 issue reads “Pope Francis: the times they are a-changin,” the headline borrows the title of Bob Dylan’s popular cl(–foul word(s) removed–)ic anthem during the early 1990’s.

The Argentine-born priest and current Pope of the Roman Catholic’s 1.2 billion population took office last March 2013. Since his (–foul word(s) removed–)umption to the highest position in the Roman Catholic, his eminence Pope Francis was already named as Time Magazine’s Person of the Year and made it to the cover of The Advocate magazine of the US.

According to the editors of Rolling Stone who made an 8,000-word profile of Pope Francis, they hailed the pontiff’s relaxed style and his less aggressive stance on hot-button issues compared to his predecessors. Rolling Stone were also struck by Pope Francis seeming effort to play down “culture war issues” and his willingness to talk “about real world economic issues in a starkly moral terms.” Rolling Stone stated.

Pope Francis is the 266th Pope in the history of the Roman Catholic Church, the world’s largest religion. Pope Francis whose real name is Jorge Mario Bergoglio was elected as Bishop of Rome and absolute Sovereign of the Vatican City State.
