The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced and released on Wednesday, the official list of firecracker and pyrotechnic device brands that sought safety certification from the Philippine government.

According to Gerardo Maglalang, DTI-Bureau of Product Standards (DTI-BPS) officer-in-charge “Fireworks, firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices by nature are not safe. But we can lessen the risk by choosing the right brands. We strongly encourage the public to purchase only DTI-Certified fireworks,” he said.
Under the BPS Product Certification Scheme, manufacturers and importers of the products under mandatory certification are required to apply for the Philippine Standard (PS) license and Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) certificate, before their products are sold in the market.
Manufacturers and importers products that p(–foul word(s) removed–)ed the Philippine National Standard (PNS) requirements will be issued the PS License and ICC certificates. The DTI-BPS also requires the manufacturers to place the PS and ICC marks on the products prior to distribution to retailers.
