Cybercrime Prevention Law TRO Extended Indefinitely

The Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) on the implementation of the Cybercrime Prevention Law will lapse tomorrow, Feb. 6, 2013, but a day before the deadline, the Supreme Court issued an indefinite extension on the TRO.

The 120-day TRO was extended according to the Supreme Court based upon the announcement made by Supreme Court spokesperson Gleo Guerra, the TRO is extended “until further orders from the court.”

The Supreme Court’s TRO is the last mechanism holding the implementation of the of Cybercrime Prevention Law, one of the most controversial law in the Philippines which is a clear (–foul word(s) removed–)ault to the Filipino’s freedom of speech based upon the negative feedback from netizens.
