Gen. Emmanuel Bautista Newest AFP Chief

The chief of the Philippine Army, Lt. Gen. Emmanuel Bautista will replace Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Gen. Jessie Dellosa on Sunday according to the announcement of Malacanang.

According to the Deputy Presidential spokesperson Abigail stated the following:

“We thank outgoing AFP Chief of Staff Dellosa for having served the country and our uniformed personnel with exemplary dedication and commitment. We look forward to the stint of the incoming AFP Chief of Staff in continuing the reforms set in motion by the President and implemented by his predecessors in advancing the interests of our soldiers and the enhancement of the defense capabilities of our country,”

Gen. Bautista was a son of a decorated soldier who was one of the victim during a peace rally. According to Bautista he wanted to end the internal conflict by 2016.

The father of Gen. Emmanuel Bautista, Brigadier General Teodulfo Bautista, was one of the victim during a peace mission involving the MNLF, although during his mission he was unarmed and come bearing gifts of peace.

Gen. Emmanuel Bautista was married to Bernardita Pardo, the daughter of former Supreme Court Justice Bernardo Pardo.
