The San Beda Red Lions captured the championship of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA 88) Men’s Basketball Title after they defeated the Letran Knights.
The game ended with the final score at 67-39 and earned the much-coveted three-peats and their 17th title. The Lions now captured the all-time records in the NCAA. It was also their sixth title in the last seven seasons.
Big men Baser Amer and Ola Adeogun of the San Beda Red Lions led the offensive for the team as they demolished the struggling Letran Knights.
The San Beda also gave their rookie coach Ronnie Magsanoc his first ever title in the tournament after he took over for Frankie Lim, who meted a two-year ban by the league last year.
The loss of the Letran Knights ended their winning streak in the semis after starting the tournament with 1-3 win-loss card.
San Beda Red Lions big man Baser Amer was adjudged as the Finals Most Valuable Player.
