Smart Gilas FIBA Asia Cup Quarterfinals Schedule of Games

The Smart Gilas will face one of it’s fiercest rival in the competition it’s northern neighbor Chinese Taipei who made it to the quarter-finals as the number 3 ranked team in Group B, after they defeated Qatar by a mere two points.

The Taiwanese squad was able to secure a victory by beating the Qataris on their last game in the preliminary round in a fascinating fashion with a buzzer-beating alley-hoop slam dunk made byLei Tien from a well-executed inbound p(–foul word(s) removed–) from Chih-Chieh Lin in the final seconds of the fourth quarter to end the game against Qatar at 75-73.

The Philippines landed at the second spot in the Group A preliminary round after a tie-breaker. Lebanon topped the Group A with a tiebreak quotient of 1.068, the Philippines have 1.050 while China ranked at third with 0.891

Smart Gilas prepared their way for a battle against the Taiwanese who were already familiar with the Filipinos after both teams have already seen each other during the 34th Jones Cup where the Philippines were declared as the Champion.

The quarterfinals will begin on Thursday giving the Philippine team a two-day break.
