Victor Ortiz is indeed confident that he would defeat Floyd Mayweather Jr., in their upcoming boxing match, Â September 17, 2011 at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Ortiz (29-2-2, 22 KOs), 24, is ten year younger than Mayweather (41-0, 25 KOs) would be facing each other to vie for the WBA Welterweight Title that is currently being held by Ortiz.
Opinions for the coming match were  mixed, some favors to the younger Ortiz while others like Marquez choose Mayweather to win in the match considering the fact that the latter is still undefeated. He had triumphed over Ricky Hatton, Shane Mosley, Juan Manuel Marquez and Oscar dela Hoya to name a few.
In one of his interviews, Mayweather was noted in saying that his performance in the ring and in each fight depends on his opponent’s energy and aggressiveness.
On this coming bout, Ortiz had been considered as the underdog even if he is the one who is currently handling the title.
There had been many speculations and talks coming from the camp of Mayweather that they are already looking for the next fight and chances might be the current pound-per-pound king Manny Pacquiao will finally share a ring with Mayweather. And this news appeared to be a little of disrespect but Ortiz had been using this plans to be a great motivation for him to strive and to aim high and to surprise the crowd who had been underestimating his potential and capacity as a boxer.
He revealed that all-through-out his boxing career and even in his life, he was already used when people put him down and when he was considered to be an underdog.
According to dela Hoya as read on vcstar.com, he mentioned the physical edge of Victor Ortiz compared to Mayweather that includes his speed in his young years.
Anticipation will soon be put to end and their action in the ring would proved what has been spoken, catch them on September 17, and witness whose words would unfold into reality.
