Hackers steal more customer info from Sony servers

-Sony-Corp-LogoHackers calling themselves as “Lulz Security or LulzSec” had finally accomplished their promised attack to Sony Corporation since this past weeks and they had stolen 1,000,000 information from SonyPictures.com, one of the company’s site.

The attack they named as “the beginning of the end” had once again put Sony Corp in the midst of problems and queries especially on the type of security they are implementing to not compromise their users.

Based on statements posted by LulzSec, they had found out that Sony’s way of storing data are not in encryption which means all the information stored were kept in plain text forms, even the p(–foul word(s) removed–)words, and with the recent hacking event, many Sony customers are at risk.

Further, to show that their claim is true, LulzSec, the same group responsible of intruding the website of PBS wherein they posted fake news articles, had posted a teaser of some of the information they had taken from SonyPictures.

The said attack is considered another devastating intrusion that hinders Sony costumers to fully trust them again after the relaunch of the Playstation Network which also suffered hacking April 19 driving the company to shut down the site for almost a month.

In the attack that took place for Sony Playstation, 77 million user accounts and details were being taken. And this recent incident hitting the SonyPictures.com, the hackers said that they could have taken as much information that they wanted since they got no big effort in order to penetrate to Sony’s network. LulzSec even said that in just “a single SQL injection” they are already in the network. However, taking those loads of information would take them weeks and they don’t have sufficient storage for it.

Information stored in SonyPictures.com are not just about its costumers, but there are also music codes and music coupons whose number is racing into millions.

With regards to the series of hacking attacks to Sony Corp, including Sony Playstation Network, Qriocity, Sony online and the very recent SonyPictures.com to name a few, many were doubting the kind of security measures offered by Sony, if they are really imposing their standards or if it’s time for them to set down and reformulate their services to (–foul word(s) removed–)ure security and not to put their customers as well as their business at risks.
