Lauro Vizconde is now ready to meet face-to-face with chief Justice Renato Corona and other three justices he mentioned in an affidavit in connection with ‘Vizconde M(–foul word(s) removed–)acre case’ in 1991.
“Why should I lie? I want to prove that all I revealed are true. I’m willing to meet them face-to-face” he said in a phone interview Wednesday.
“One of the reasons I decided to name the justices is ultimately to weed out corrupt officers” he said.
Vizconde wished the Supreme Court would consider his claims of lobbying and peddling influence in the tribunal.
“Only genuine housecleaning restores the people’s trust in the justice system” said Vizconde.
“I could be penalized for saying this, but I have a reason to prove. Besides, if they call me to witness, I welcome it” he added.
Spokesperson and administrator Jose Midas Marquez said “It’s time to end the controversy surrounding Vizconde m(–foul word(s) removed–)acre case, let’s put a stop to all of this”.
“This would be the last time I will consider this issue, unless there is substantial to be presented. If all of these are allegations, I will disregard on it” said Marquez.
The affidavit dated January 27, Vizconde said “Chief Justice Corona warned him last September that “lobby money” amounting to P50-million was available for justices in voting for the acquittal of Webb.” At a meeting Antonio Carpio Senior (–foul word(s) removed–)ociate Justice was appealing other justices to ensure Hubert Webb acquittal et al”.
Webb et al. were found guilty of murder of Vizconde Estrellita and daughters Jennifer and Carmela on June 30, 1991. But the court in December 2010 reversed the conviction, Jessica Alfaro the star witness failed to prove guilty beyond reasonable doubt to all the accused.
All of the four justices denied the claims of Lauro Vizconde.
Vizconde said “I was not surprised.”
“What I expected are their denials. But why should I lie? What shall I get from it? It’s not my personality to fool the people” said Vizconde.
“I can prove it, and I have my evidence.” What about Corona? He is the only one saying he did not warn me about Carpio’s lobbying.” He said.
“The Supreme Court is thinking I am a liar. I cannot afford that. Why should I lie? Let the people know the truth, said Vizconde.
“Now I am ready to face them. I can look at their eyes straight and tell what really happened during those meetings,” he said.
“The fight goes beyond my personal quest for justice. Now the fight redound to judicial reforms, let the people know that the poor will not suffer the hurt I am feeling,” Vizconde said.
