Texas Chainsaw Massacre back for 3D Screen

Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The original version (1974)

Texas Chainsaw Massacre is getting up for a remake as a joint project of Lionsgate and Nu Image Production but this time, it will be for 3D screen.

Lionsgate will distribute the movie in the United States while Nu Image will be the one to sell international rights for Cannes.

The original chainsaw was a landmark horror movie which was first shown in the year 1974, which introduces the popular chainsaw wielding cannibal known to its avid audience as the Leatherface. The original version was then directed by Tobe Hooper. In 2003, the movie had its first remake with grossed of $80 million in its domestic showing, and it was under the production of New Line and Platinum Dunes, then in the year 2006, it had a prequel.

Currently, Carl Mazzocone is set to produce the movie that will showcase new franchise of features for Leatherface and his family of cannibals. Mazzocone is a blockbuster producer.

At present, he is under negotiation with John Luesserhop who is eye to direct the project.

June is the expected month for the production to begin.

Mazzocone started as the Production President of the horror house named Twisted Picture. Then, he started a new venture and that is engaging himself in the creation of independent films and that made him an independent producer.

After  pursuing the rights to the said property, Carl Mazzocone was able to close and make a deal for six movies.

To recall, the original story directed by Tobe Hooper is an influential cult classic that continues the subgenre of horror films based on the life and “career” of Wisconsin serial killer Ed Gein.
